Alex Rodriguez Attorney, Joe Tacopina, Vows He Will "Annihilate" MLB Officials In Upcoming Proceedings

Alex Rodriguez’s attorney Joe Tacopina insists Major League Baseball’s case against his client is “in shambles” and is vowing “to annihilate” them in all pending proceedings.

In the same week that Rodriguez said he will no longer talk about the ongoing Biogenesis performance enhancing drug probe that resulted in him being suspended for a record-setting 211 games, Tacopina boldly predicted vindication for his client, who remains actively playing on appeal.

“They can talk a tough game, but we’ll see how they act in a courtroom and a court proceeding,” Tacopina told USA Today Sports.

In addition, a source close to Rodriguez alleges that the New York Yankees slugger rejected a last minute offer of a 100-game suspension and still has a standing offer of 150 games on the table. Directly asked to comment on the matter, Tacopina told USA Today “he wants his day in court.”

MLB denies there is an active offer and league president Rob Manfred later added “every player involved in Biogenesis except Alex Rodriguez accepted their discipline. We have detailed information regarding his use of PEDs, which was longer and more pervasive than other players, and about his efforts to obstruct our investigation."

Tacopina retorted by asserting MLB officials are “violating criminal laws to seek information” and, referring to Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch, have even entered into a business relationship with a drug peddler.

"They have this thug mentality in their investigation," he told the newspaper. "They've committed two criminal offenses that we know of. Witnesses are terrified by the MLB investigators. They are relying on one person for their whole case. He will take the Fifth Amendment, or will be in jail. They have no witnesses…No prosecutor would bring that to a courtroom. It's beyond circumstantial."
