Aaron Hernandez Murder Case Update: Tipster Who Raised Suspcicion About Jury Will Be Questioned Under Oath, With Ex-Patriot Present

A tipster who raised suspicions about one of the jurors who convicted former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez of first-degree murder will be questioned under oath by Hernandez's lawyers, as approved by Judge Susan E. Garsh. Hernandez will be in court during the questioning, but Garsh did not open the proceedings to the public.

The female tipster's credibility has been assaulted by the district attorney's office. The DA says that the woman was sexually involved with Hernandez, and her father did time with him in jail. She has alleged that one of the jurors who rendered a guilty verdict in the murder of Odin Lloyd was a former co-worker of hers and "was present for a discussion about the charges in Boston."

Did A Juror Lie Before Being Selected To Hernandez Panel?

Hernandez is awaiting trial for a 2012 double-homicide in Boston, but that case was barred from mention during the Odin Lloyd murder trial.

The woman also claims she heard another person talking about the juror in question, and that juror had stated a desire to be on the panel for the Hernandez trial. One of Hernandez's attorneys, James Sultan, was the lawyer who has been in contact with this juror. He said there is "absolutely no downside" to having her testify under oath.

"If a real possibility exists that a miscarriage of justice has occurred here, it is the court's responsibility to get to the bottom of it," Sultan wrote per ESPN.
