Allen Iverson Retirement Announcement [VIDEO]: NBA's 'Best Ever Little Big Man' Makes it Official [VIDEO]

Allen Iverson, at once one of the most electrifying and stagnating NBA players in history, has officially announced his league retirement.

Iverson, who played 14 NBA seasons for four different teams, including a 2000-01 MVP season in Philadelphia when he averaged 26.7 points, 6.2 assists and 3.7 rebounds in earning the distinction among many onlookers as “the greatest little man” to every play the game.

“He had a magnificent career, and he enjoyed every minute of it,” a source identified as close to Iverson told Slam Magazine. “He enjoyed the places basketball took him, he enjoyed the camaraderie with his teammates and he especially enjoyed that his job was playing the game that he loved.”

The source also told Slam: “He loves his fans more than anyone. He loves how they ask for his return constantly, on the streets and on the internet. But now that they know it’s not happening, he can just focus on his future endeavors.”

Just what that may be remains a mystery. As Iverson has endured several highly-publicized incidents since last playing in a NBA game, including a messy divorce from his high school sweetheart that was only recently finalized.

Over his career, Iverson was an 11-time All-Star and also led his team to the NBA Finals and was named league MVP following the 2000-01 season.
