After the two behemoths traded blow after blow, Lesnar had 'Taker in a Kimura lock and the bell rang despite the referee not calling for it. The timekeeper sawThe Undertaker tap out, but the referee said the match needed to continue after he missed it.

The Undertaker then hooked in the Hell's Gate, which led to Lesnar passing out to lose the bout. After the match, Paul Heyman advocated that "The Beast" was in fact the winner.

The main event was a hard-hitting encounter between two of the biggest names in WWE history and also had a notable spot that saw Lesnar F-5 the "Demon from Death Valley" through the announce table. In the end, The Undertaker avenged the loss of The Streak while Lesnar still looked good due to the controversy.

In the other half of the big double main event, it was a SummerSlam shocker involving host Jon Stewart. The former "Daily Show" host made his presence felt in the title-for-title main event between United States Champion John Cena and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.

With the referee knocked out, Cena hit the AA on Rollins and appeared to have the match won. Stewart, who has been a noted rival of Rollins, entered the ring with a chair and began to size up "The Architect." Stewart then shocked the world, hitting Cena with the chair.

Rollins followed up by delivering a Pedigree to Cena onto the chair and the referee returned to count the pinfall, making The Authority's handpicked star the first man to ever simultaneously hold the U.S. and WWE World Heavyweight Championships.

The Divas Revolution also continued Sunday night with a three-team, nine-Diva elimination tag match pitting Team Bella vs. Team B.A.D. vs. Team P.C.B. Team B.A.D. was the first team eliminated when Brie Bella pinned Tamina. Team P.C.B. then stood tall as Becky Lynch took out Brie.

Elsewhere on the card, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns defeated The Wyatt Family in a fun tag team match. In the end, "The Lunatic" Fringe nailed Bray Wyatt with the Dirty Deeds before tagging in Reigns, who pinned him with a spear.

There are also new Tag Team Champions as The New Day overcame Los Matadores, The Lucha Dragons and the defending champion Prime Time Players in a Fatal 4 Way bout. The ending saw Kofi Kingston sneak a blind tag in on Titus O'Neil and pin one of the Matadores.

The Intercontinental Championship stood pat as Ryback retained in a Triple Threat Match with The Big Show and The Miz. "The Big Guy" took advantage of Big Show's knockout punch on Miz and pinned him for the win.

In other action, Rusev and Dolph Ziggler fought to a no-contest in a double countout and Neville and "Arrow" star Stephen Amell topped Stardust and King Barrett in tag action. Kevin Owens also dropped Cesaro after hitting the Pop-up Powerbomb.

In the opening match of the evening, Sheamus defeated Randy Orton by hitting the Brogue Kick.
