Oscar Pistorius Release Update: Reeva Steenkamp's Parent Openly Accuse Blade Runner of Murder [VIDEO]

Just days after what would have been Reeva Steenkamp's 32nd birthday, her parents are openly accusing Oscar Pistorius of murder.

June and Barry Steenkamp appeared on Australia's Channel Seven television and claimed in an interview that aired Sunday that Pistorius deliberately shot Steenkamp after a fight, Huffington Post reported.

Technicality Leaves Oscar Pistorius Behind Bars

"What actually came out in court is not the truth," Barry Steenkamp said during the interview. "He got angry, she went off to the toilet, locked herself inside, and then him pulling out the gun and shooting."

June Steenkamp added: "Why didn't he just let her walk away?"

Oscar Pistorius Still Faces Financial And Emotion Trouble, Even If He Is Released

The Steenkamps had been saying only that Pistorius didn't deserve to be released from prison just 10 months after killing their daughter and that they were not angry with the 'Blade Runner.'

BBC.com speculated that the Steenkamps' grief was magnified with the possibility of Pistorius serving the remainder of his five-year sentence under house arrest, coupled with Reeva's birthday on Aug. 19, caused them to lash out.

"Perhaps the reality that the athlete will soon be out of prison and able to resume some form of normal life was all too much for the grieving family who last week marked what would have been Reeva's 32nd birthday," BBC.com reported.

A justice minister, Michael Mathusa, successfully blocked Pistorius' release from prison a couple of days before his scheduled Aug. 21 release. He argued that the South African law allowing qualifying prisoners to become eligible for parole/house arrest after serving one-sixth of their sentence could be interpreted as the minimum time inmates had to stay in jail before the parole board was able to consider granting parole.

The South African parole board now may take months considering whether to grant Pistorius an early release, BBC.com reported.

Pistorius is schedule to undergo an appeal of his culpable homicide verdict in November. Prosecutors still are trying to change Pistorius' conviction to a murder conviction that carries a minimum 15-year sentence.
