Fantasy Baseball Playoff Strategy: Five Players To Add For Stretch Run [VIDEOS]

With the MLB entering its stretch run, it's time for fantasy baseball players to strive for glory of their own.

Zack Greinke Should Start Game 1 Over Clayton Kershaw In NLDS

As the pennant races continue to play out on the diamond, the playoffs have started in most fantasy leagues as another season is set to come to an end. In most leagues this time of year, there are plenty of surging stars or unknown rookies just waiting to be swept up for the push to the championship.

Here are five players to add for the stretch run to the playoffs.

Projecting The Cardinals Playoff Rotation

1) Corey Seager

The Dodgers face an interesting dilemma with veteran shortstop Jimmy Rollins (bruised finger) set to return to the lineup and displace Seager, the team's stud shortstop prospect, but Don Mattingly is exploring ways to keep him in the lineup. Seager, 21, owns a .419/.528/.628 slash line with a homer, seven RBI, six stolen bases and nine runs through his first 12 big league games.

2) Bartolo Colon

Yes, Colon is 42 years of age, but he's pitching better than a lot of young aces lately. The right-handed veteran recently set a record for pitchers aged 42 or older by carrying out a 31-inning scoreless streak, which was eventually snapped by the Braves. Colon is 2-0 with a 1.15 ERA in September. He also has had a magical season with the lumber, notching a career-high in hits (8) and RBI (4).

3) J.P. Arencibia

The Rays catcher is red-hot as of late, hitting safely in 11 of his last 14 games and having four multi-hit contests in that span. Arencibia, 29, is hitting .400/.417/.914 in September with five homers and 14 RBI through 12 games in September.

4) Angel Pagan

The Giants outfielder has been doing amazing things since being activated from the disabled list on Sept. 1, including recording his first career three-steal game on Sunday. Pagan, 34, is hitting .316/.361/.474 with two homers and six RBI since making his return.

5) Marcus Stroman

This is a risky one, but Stroman returned from a torn ACL against the Yankees on Saturday and looked solid aside from a Brett Gardner three-run homer. Stroman, 24, allowed the three earned runs on four hits, while walking two and striking out two to earn the win. He also had a no-hitter into the fifth inning.
