Sebastian Telfair Trade: Los Angeles Lakers Battling Miami Heat In Chase Player? [VIDEO]

The Los Angeles Lakers have joined a growing number of teams expressing interest in free agent guard Sebastian Telfair, according to Yardbarker.com.

A nine year veteran, Telfair, the cousin of former NBA All-Star Stephon Marbury, has previously attracted interest from the two time defending champion Miami Heat and the San Antonio.

Telfair has averaged 7.4 points and 3.5 assists in just over 21 minutes per game over his career. He spent last as a reserve with the Phoenix Suns, where he averaged just less than six points a game in under a shade of 16 minutes per outing.

Telfair is a New York City high school legend who during his senior year at Lincoln High School was featured in a documentary about his life entitled "Through The Fire." He went straight to the NBA out of high school, signing a $10 million sneaker contract with Adidas along the way.

"If I could change one thing, I would take that sneaker deal back," Telfair told Sports Illustrated earlier this year. "It puts you in some kind of comfort."

In rebuilding themselves after the free agency departure of All-Star center Dwight Howard to Houston, the Lakers have already signed wing  players Nick Young, Wesley Johnson and Jordan farmar this summer. they inked journeyman center Chris Kaman to fill the gap left by Howard
