Cleveland Browns Johnny Manziel Rumors: TMZ Story About Fractured Locker Room May Have Been Fabricated [VIDEO]

Don’t believe everything you read, at least that’s the message Browns WR Andrew Hawkins is trying to send.

Fresh off a 27-20 loss to the Raiders on Sunday, TMZ ran an exclusive claiming three starting players on the Browns offense wants Johnny Manziel under center on Sunday, not Josh McCown. All three players did so under the condition of anonymity.

"The team plays better when [Manziel] is in the game,” one player said. “I play better when he plays."

“Coach has got to make the change now,” another player said.

Or did they?

LT Joe Thomas went as for as telling Pro Football Talk he believed The Onion -- the famed satire site -- was behind the story.

“It's funny because the first thing I [thought] about this article, it reminded me of being in college and picking up The Onion, when you'd start reading this outrageous article and wonder who made it up," Thomas said. “[The report] couldn't be further from the truth.”

“It really belongs more in The Onion than a reputable news source, if that's what we're going to call TMZ.”

After Tuesday’s report, we know that’s not what Hawkins is going to call it.
