Gilbert Arenas Jail Time For Fireworks Arrest? Still Boasts He Can Beat Michael Jordan [VIDEO]

Gilbert Arenas faces as much as a year in county jail and fines of up to $10,000 stemming from his 4th of July arrest for transporting more than 100 pounds of dangerous and illegal fireworks, according to TMZ.

Arenas was pulled over by California Highway Patrol for speeding just days before the holiday, which is when officers also discovered the explosives. Ultimately, he was charged with misdemeanor possession of dangerous fireworks without a permit, TMZ reports.

After his June 27th arrest, Arenas boasted that the setback did not put a damper on his "show" because he had two more truckloads worth of explosives. TMZ reported he later claimed the fireworks were for a charity fireworks event and "technically" were not illegal.

"I had three trucks full, they just got one," he told TMZ. "It was epic."

Arenas, who is due in court next month, has also been in the news of late for his boasts that he would dominate Michael Jordan in a game of one-on-one. Apparently Arenas' observations were prompted by a recent video of the now 50-year-old Jordan still dunking.

"If he's still dunking at 50, that means he's still athletic enough to guard anyone," Arenas told TMZ, before boldly declaring there's no way Jordan could guard him.

Arenas, 31, played last season for the Shanghai Sharks and has said he would like another shot at the NBA.
