In an update on the rumors, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Wrestligheadlines.com) indicates that there are still people within the WWE who believe that despite Austin's insistence to the contrary; a major angle may be teased between the six-time WWE Champion and Lesnar on "Stone Cold's" podcast Oct. 19.

With Austin's status for the biggest show of 2016 up in the air, here are three possible replacements for him to face Lesnar.

5 Unknown Things About Roman Reigns

The Rock

Can't face one franchise player? Face another. There has been plenty of chatter that The People's Champion will return to WrestleMania, and it's possible he renews his rivalry with Lesnar. The two met when Lesnar was a WWE rookie and The Rock was on his way out at SummerSlam in 2002. There is speculation The Rock will either face Triple H or Lesnar at AT&T Stadium, if he chooses to return to the ring.

Daniel Bryan

This of course relies on "The Beard's" health, but Bryan has made it no secret he wants to get his hands on Lesnar in the ring someday. While it seems like a mismatch on paper, the WWE could use Bryan's speed and aerial element against the pure strength of the powerful Lesnar. Bryan's injury history could hold the WWE back from thrusting him at the former UFC champion, but it would make a great matchup.

Randy Orton

Though a lot of people yawn at the thought of "The Viper" these days, he'd make a good foe for Heyman's client. Orton has the killer instinct and type of move set that could actually believably give him a chance against the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion. With both men being veterans, the match would be a sure hit.
