Dallas Cowboys News: Jerry Jones Signed Greg Hardy To Prevent More Violence [VIDEO]

Jerry Jones didn't want to put another domestic violence suspect back out on the streets.

So he hired him.

Jerry Jones Clueless On Backlash Over Greg Hardy Comments

Suffice it to say that the Cowboys owner might've been better served conversing with a Dallas media relations rep or others in the Cowboys organization before answering questions about defensive end Greg Hardy's return from a four-game suspension.

Hardy, who was found guilty of assaulting an ex-girlfriend when he was with the Panthers before charges were dropped because she refused to testify against him, had five tackles, two sacks and forced a fumble during Dallas' 30-6 loss to the Patriots in Week 5.

Jones, chairman of a battered women's organization for more than 10 years, freely admitted that he signed Hardy because of the skills Hardy brings, according to the Dallas Morning News. But apparently that wasn't the only reason.

"Because there's other things to think about here, and I'll be very upfront, certainly I'm trying to improve the football team," Jones said before the Dallas-New England game. "Absolutely I'm trying to improve the football team. But I'm going to say something else too, I have seen people that can not only improve the football team, but have a contribution to make as far as things that happen in society.

"... One of the things I did learn a long time ago is that it really exacerbated things if you take them out of the workplace, if you take the abusers out of the workplace. Then it just goes downhill from there and then they get desperate and all of a sudden you end up with an even worse situation."

Fox pregame co-host Terry Bradshaw voiced his disgust over the Jones-Hardy situation, according to another Dallas Morning News article.

"Anybody, in my opinion, that lays a hand on a woman -- I don't care who you are, my friend -- you never come back in this league," he said. "But Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones in his desperation to get a pass rusher said, 'Well, you know what America, Cowboys fans, he's all right. He's a good boy. We're going to get him all straightened out over here and bring him in.'"
