Manny Pacquiao Next Fight News: Amir Khan Decides To Wait Another Week

Just a couple of days ago, British boxer Amir Khan sounded to have given up all hope of facing Manny Pacquiao in 2016. But now it seems he is singing a different tune and has decided to wait a little bit more.

To be more exact, he will stick around and see if negotiations for a possible tiff between him and his former sparring partner will materialize in a week’s time.

Just a couple of days ago, Khan had reportedly walked away from fight talks with the Filipino boxer with the belief that they were stalling and leaning more on a possible rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr., Khan said the following via The National.

“I’m really disappointed in Manny and his team,” Khan said. “They aren’t playing ball. All that was left to do is to sign the contract. But they are stalling. I have pulled out of the negotiations. I am no longer fighting Manny Pacquiao."

Apparently Khan was being cautious especially after his experience with Mayweather.

Just a couple of months ago, Khan’s name was also at the top of the list of opponents in Mayweather’s alleged retirement match. In the end, Khan was shunned and Mayweather opted to fight Andre Berto instead.

Now, Khan is avoiding a repeat of that incident and probably felt it best to move forward.

Top Rank's Bob Arum reacted to Khan’s claims and said that there was no contract (with Mayweather) in place.

“Nobody can figure out why [Khan] is saying that,” Arum said via The L.A. Times. “I’ve spoken to his attorney, Robert Davis, and we’re going back and forth on the numbers,” Arum said. “The kid [Khan] talks too much. It’s probably why he lost the Mayweather fight. If there’s no contract to sign, who’s stalling who?”

Upon reading Arum’s statement on his reaction, it was here were the British southpaw said that he would wait another week to see if a deal can be struck.
