Kobe Bryant, Master P Feud: Rapper Is Hypocrite Over Non-Sensical Criticism [VIDEO]

Master P should quit while he's behind.

The rapper defended his comments about Kobe Bryant being a phony to visit Lamar Odom in response to a video of comedian D.L. Hughley defending Bryant that was posted online.

Kobe Bryant To Master P: Sad To Criticism Someone's Intentions To Visit Friend In Critical Condition

"I'm not looking for publicity, I don't need it," Master P said in a statement Complex.com posted on its website. "Only when I was asked, I stated my opinion on what I knew about this man from the times I was around him. Lamar complained about how everybody turned their backs on him, even his nba buddies. But then people blew my opinion out of proportion.

"...This is only my opinion, it's just sad that last month no one had anything positive to say about Lamar.. and that's what I meant by being phony."

Hughley said that to blame another person for an addict's problems is ridiculous.

"Anybody who's dealt with anybody with a substance abuse problem knows you cannot pray, pry, talk, guilt, give, anything (to make that person stop)," Hughley said.

Master P wasn't exactly saying anything positive about Odom in the last month either. So his argument is that because he didn't visit Odom in the hospital that he was a true friend and that because Bryant did visit Odom, he's a phony.

The rapper said Bryant could have coerced the Lakers into keeping Odom, but if The five-time NBA champion knew about Odom's problems, why on earth would have done that? The Black Mamba is all about winning, and bringing someone with a substance abuse problem on the team isn't exactly conducive to a winning environment.

If Bryant didn't know, then he could at least see that Odom's play has fallen off dramatically since leaving L.A., so re-signing him wasn't going to help the team.

Odom's relationship with the Lakers deteriorated when they sent him to New Orleans in a trade that would've brought Chris Paul to the Lakers, only to be mysteriously vetoed by then-NBA Commissioner David Stern.

Odom was so distraught that he demanded a trade and was shipped to the Mavericks, where he lost interest in playing and was out of the league before the season was over.

Master P's criticism of the Kardashians, based on their history of being famous for being famous, the Kardashians, theoretically could merit a case, but Khloe was his wife, and its easy to believe the family went there for support.

When Bryant left the Lakers during an exhibition game to visit Odom, the team had to alert the media to his absence. Does Master P think that reporters weren't going to ask where Bryant was or that the Lakers were going to try to keep it a secret?

Master P is clearly wrong about Bryant's role in Odom's tragedy. He himself admitted to distancing himself from Odom. If Bryant did the same, as P's accusation suggests, then at least Bryant put that aside to visit a friend in a life-or-death situation.

If that was Bryant being phony, more power to him.
