'UFC Fight Night 76' Fight Card: Joseph Duffy 'Not Permitted' To Compete Against Dustin Pointer [VIDEO & Statement]

One of the main events for UFC Fight Night 76 scheduled to take place Saturday at the 3Arena in Dublin has been scrapped following an injury to Irishman Joseph Duffy.

The original card would have pitted Duffy against Dustin Poirier -- but a mild concussion has forced the former to be pulled out of the lightweight division main event.

The UFC put out the following statement on the matter:

“Having learned that Duffy received a strike to the head during training earlier this week, UFC sent him for medical tests in Ireland for precautionary purposes. The results determined that Duffy suffered a mild concussion and due to the proximity of the fight this Saturday UFC will not permit him to compete…”

Poirier, who was forced to be pulled out for the event, will be rescheduled for another upcoming card.

It didn’t take long for Conor McGregor to take a swipe at Duffy on the withdrawal. Just a couple of days ago, Duffy said that given the chance to meet up with the vastly improve McGregor that he would similarly hand him a defeat as he did back in 2010.

Both were facing off at Cage Warriors 39 at the time and it took Duffy just 38 seconds to make McGregor submit.

With the Duffy vs. Poirier card scrapped, the flyweight clash between Paddy Holohan and Louis Smolka has been bumped up to the main event.
