The 34-year-old Lloyd, who played last season for the 49ers, retired Thursday. He finishes his career with 399 career receptions, 5,989 receiving yards, and 36 touchdowns.
"I am so thankful for the years I spent in the NFL," Lloyd stated in a tweet by NFL reporter Albert Breer on his official account. "I do not have one regret, and I am blessed to leave the game in such a healthy and happy place. I will do all I can to positively represent the league and its players for the rest of my life."

Lloyd also took the time to acknowledge his former coaches for truly believing in him. Throughout his career, he was able to play for six teams and 10 coaches. He was a fourth-round pick by the Niners out of Illinois in the 2003 draft. In addition to the 49ers and Broncos, Lloyd played for Washington, Chicago, St. Louis, and New England. He returned to San Francisco last season.
Lloyd's best season came in 2010, when he built a connection with Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow to record 77 grabs for 1,448 yards and 11 touchdowns. He led the NFL in receiving yards that year. Though inconsistent, according to Bleacher Report, Lloyd had a penchant for making the spectacular catch. Despite being on the smaller side (6'0"), he was athletic enough to contort himself in the air to make some truly remarkable grabs.

Lloyd caught just 14 passes for 294 yards and a touchdown in 14 games with San Francisco in 2014, and didn't resign with the team or catch on with another organization. Lloyd was known for his "Can't see me" wave and his aerobatic catches, wowing fans with Odell Beckham Jr.-esque snags before they were in vogue.
