New York Mets Rumors: Where The NL Champs Partied After Clinching World Series Berth [VIDEO]

The National League champion Mets partied until 4 a.m. in the Windy City after clinching the franchise's first World Series berth in 15 years.

It wasn't the most raucous celebration as the Amazin's quietly congregated in Chicago following their 8-3 victory Wednesday, which secured a four-game sweep over the Cubs in the NLCS. The party began with a champagne shower in the locker room and spilled over to a live music lounge named Bassment, according to the New York Post.

Bassment is a yet-to-open lounge located on West Hubbard Street in Chicago. Stars such as Matt Harvey, home run hero Daniel Murphy and Jacob deGrom were on-hand to celebrate with their friends and family in what was described as a very low-key party.

The players likely felt right at home as the lounge, which will open in four weeks, is right below the Hampton Social Restaurant, which has a Hamptons, N.Y. theme. The club remained at the spot until 4 a.m., the Post reports.

Even The Game's Best Can't Get Daniel Murphy Out

When the Mets returned to New York, the party continued among the Flushing faithful. Fans of the club from Queens came out in droves to support the team when it returned to Citi Field on buses at 3:27 p.m. Thursday, according to the Daily News. The publication reports that over 50 diehard Mets fans were waiting for the team to arrive on the bus to show the support of the NL champions.

The Mets' first World Series since 2000 kicks off Tuesday, but the club has yet to find out where they'll open up. The Royals host the Blue Jays in Game 6 of the ALCS Friday as Kansas City will look to punch its ticket to its second straight Fall Classic, while Toronto will try to force a do-or-die Game 7 Saturday at Kauffman Stadium.

The Amazin's hope to have one final party by winning their first World Series since 1986, but the fans were already starting the celebration Thursday as the club returned.

As for whom they'd like to play, Mets captain David Wright was approached by the media and asked, "Jays or Royals?"

His response: "Mets!"
