Kansas City Royals Rumors: Raul Mondesi Will Make MLB History In World Series, Accomplish What His Father Never Could [VIDEO]

The Royals will break out something the Mets have never seen before during the 2015 World Series: Raul Mondesi., who will make history if he makes it into any of the games. Mondesi, 20, would become the first player in MLB history to make his debut in the World Series.

Mondesi, whose father of the same name played for six MLB teams from 1993 to 2005, is the 38th-ranked prospect in baseball according to ESPN scout Keith Law, slashed .243/.279/.372 at Double-A this year for the Royals with six home runs, 30 RBI, and 19 stolen bases in 338 plate appearances. Mondesi’s speed is the reason he has been added to the club, and the club is showing a lot of faith in him by leaving OF Terrance Gore, who stole a base vs. the Astros in the ALDS, off the club. Gore was part of Kansas City’s run to the World Series last year, and stole three bases in the AL Wild Card and ALDS.

While Gore may be more proven, Royalsreview.com speculates that Mondesi is also serving as an insurance policy should starting second baseman Ben Zobrist need to leave the club to be with his wife, who is due to give birth soon. If Zobrist left the team, Christian Colon is expected to take his spot as the starter. In addition to making MLB history if he gets into a game, Mondesi has already made family history by being named to a World Series roster, which his father was never able to accomplish despite a 13-year big league career.
