TMZ is reporting James Harden insists the only way he would ever consider shaving his beard would be to raise money for charity.
And the Houston Rockets guard and beard enthusiast adds he's not just talking any charity, stressing the deed would have to raise more than $80,000. Harden has been sporting his now legendary facial hair since 2008.
Having added center Dwight Howard through free agency this summer, Harden and his mates are considered to be among the league's best teams this season and expected to battle the Clippers, Spurs and Thunder for Western Conference supremacy.
Rockets legend Hakeem Olajuwon, who joined the team's coaching staff this summer and has already been working out with many of the players, already seems sold on the trio of Harden, Howard and Jeremy Lin.
"Just the little offense I saw, that combination is very deadly," he recently told reporters. "You can see that both of them are very excited, seeing that, 'Wow,' we bring the right ingredients together. When you see players that are dedicated to succeed, it gives you that window to see what kind of season that we're looking for."
The Rockets have also added veterans Marcus Camby and Ronnie Brewer.
