Harry Giles is the hands-down choice as the top player for the 2016 high school class and the budding 6-foot-10 power forward is taking another step toward a promising basketball career by committing to Duke.
Giles announced his decision to join the Blue Devils, stressing that he felt most comfortable with Mike Krzyzewski. The decision should reap some returns for Giles considering Krzyzewski has been known to guide and motivate players under the Duke program.

Among the players who Krzyzewski previously had under his wing and are now in the NBA include Jahlil Okafor, Jabari Parker, the Plumlee brothers (Mason and Miles) and Seth Curry among others.
Could Giles be the next one in line? Well it depends.

While news about his commitment to the Blue Devils is in the air, the fact remains that the 17-year-old versatile power forward has to deal with an ACL injury on his right knee.
In fact, this was the first bit to hit the news before his commitment to the Blue Devils, his second ACL injury from two seasons ago. Though he has the time to recover and help Duke for the 2016-17 season, his knee issues could hinder his possible jump as the top pick in the 2017 NBA draft.
His case is fairly similar to that of Nerlens Noel, who would have been the top pick in the 2013 NBA Draft class had it not for his knees. He ended up being selected sixth by the Philadelphia 76ers though he has proven to be a good find.
Noel suffered an ACL injury during his lone season with the University of Kentucky, but has since bounced back successfully and has been gaining notice.
Could this be the same plight of Giles? The road ahead could be bumpy, but his best chances of becoming the top pick in the 2017 NBA Draft (in case he makes the jump) is still a possibility.
