Boxing News 2015: Oscar De La Hoya Calls For Truce With Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have exchanged blows in the ring back in 2007 but for the ones following the boxing headlines recently, the two have been continue their verbal tirades that have somehow turned the sport of boxing into a circus.

The exchange between the two has been hot the past couple of weeks and now De La Hoya wants to end it by calling a truce.

In a report from Boxingscene.com, De La Hoya has reached out in an effort to possibly end thejawing:

“Floyd, let's bury the hatchet. I'm shaking, I'm getting a little teary eyed. Floyd, let's bury the hatchet. We don't have to be friends. We don't have to be best friends, but let's bury the hatchet for the sake of the sport,” says De La Hoya.

A heartfelt and lengthy letter which appeared on Playboy Magazine practically escalated tensions a bit, De La Hoya taking a shot at Mayweather and the things he has done all the way to his final fight with Andre Berto.

Mayweather responded by calling De La Hoya ‘jealous’, who himself took shots at De La Hoya with regards to the Ring Magazine cover which featured Ronda Rousey.

With that said, De La Hoya is hoping to end all this nonsense and hopefully the two can just end up doing business to help the sport of boxing. But of course, that depends on how Mayweather would respond to De La Hoya’s call out.

Mayweather is someone that hardly shows remorse though there is a first time for everything. He could end up keeping quiet or putting in his final word (or two).

But as De La Hoya said, they don’t have to be friends but two people whose plan is to help mold boxing in the same way it has molded them into what and where they are today.
