Greg Hardy News: Ex-Teammates' Lovefest Shows NFL Players Not Outraged By Domestic Violence [VIDEO]

For once, Greg Hardy sort of didn't say anything dumb in advance of his reunion Sunday with the Panthers, who visit the Cowboys.

His former teammates did it for him.

Cowboys Support Greg Hardy But Cut Players For Breaking Travel Dress Code

Quarterback and MVP candidate Cam Newton led a parade of Carolina players fawning over the embattled defensive end.

"Greg is a great teammate, contrary to popular belief," Newton said on a conference call Tuesday, according to The Sporting News. "He is a person that came in and worked hard, gave everybody everything that he had and a person that you love to watch on Sundays. Any time you've got a person like that, it's always great to watch. I'm wishing him the best."

Jerry Jones' Support For Greg Hardy May Be Dwindling

This season, Hardy has been shown getting in arguments with a couple of Dallas players, including Dez Bryant, as well as special teams coach Rich Bisaccia, so Newton's comments are a bit surprising, but not that outrageous.

Outside linebacker Thomas Davis was one of several Panthers that tried to convince management not to release Hardy after his domestic abuse arrest," ESPN reported.

"Greg Hardy is a guy that you flat-out want on your football team," Davis said Tuesday. "He's a guy that's a game-changer. He can go out and totally wreck a game plan if you allow him to. Of course we went and spoke up for him, trying to get him back.

"But a few details came out with this whole situation. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get him back. Now he's a part of the Dallas Cowboys. Guess who we play this week?"

Davis spoke as if he is not aware that Hardy was found guilty of assault and communicating threats against ex-girlfriend Nicole Holder.

"We all knew of the situation," he said. "We knew what was said to have happened. It's one of those situations where you really still, to this point, it's still Greg's word against hers."

At least Carolina defensive tackle Dwan Edwards, a father of two girls who considered Hardy a good friend when they were teammates, had an appropriate response about his former teammate.

"I had one of my best years playing with Greg Hardy here," Edwards said. "He's a tremendous talent. He's gonna help that football team win a lot of games. (But) at what price, I guess?"
