Drake, Toronto Raptors Partner In Rebranding Campaign? Amir Johnson Buys 'Nothing Was The Same' Copies, Passes Album Out In Dundas Square [VIDEO]

The Toronto Raptors have partnered with Canadian born rap-star Drake to serve as a host, business partner and consultant for the team.

According to the Toronto Star, in that capacity he will serve as host of festivities for the 2016 All-Star Game the team is set to host as well as soon launch a clothing line in conjunction with the team.

The newspaper reports he will also be entrusted with teaming with management for a complete redesign of the franchise's image to coincide with the celebration of its 20th year anniversary in 2014-15.

"The real goal here is to build up the Toronto Raptors," Drake told ESPN while recently appearing on an episode of the First Take show. "I am a Raptors fan to death."

Over the years, the 26-year-old hip hop star has been a courtside fixture at Raptors games and at NBA arenas in general. Now The Star reports he will have the power to change basically everything promotional about the Raptors--- short of their dinosaur logo and team name.

Drake is being tasked with a similar task undertaken by fellow rap star Jay Z in Brooklyn. Jay Z designed the Nets' uniforms and changed the team's image, as well as lending much-needed star power. The Star also reports Drake is already doing much of this work for free. He is known to be friends with several of the players and last week forward Amir Johnson taped himself buying out hundreds of copies of his new album and handing them out in Dundas Square.
