Tim Tebow News: QB's Faith Wouldn't Be Ridiculed If He Were Muslim, KISS' Gene Simmons Says [VIDEO]

Tim Tebow doesn't seem to have a lot of support in the NFL -- or in the media -- but that doesn't mean he doesn't have any support.

One Tebow fan with a lot of clout came out swinging at the media for ridiculing the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner over his religious beliefs, CNSNews.com reported.

Olivia Culpo, Not Tim Tebow, Blamed For Being Sexually Clueless

"All those pundits and the people in the peanut gallery who pick on him because he's an avowed Christian, and proud of it, this is the most heinous thing in sports journalism and reporting," legendary KISS bassist and co-lead singer Gene Simmons said on Fox & Friends, "because here's the guy who believes in his God and people pick on him.

"If he was a Jew or a Muslim and you did that -- people would never dare," said Simmons, who is Jewish. "But for some reason, if you're a Christian, you're allowed to pick on him."

Tim Tebow May Actually Have Come On Too Strong In Pursuit Of Olivia Culpo

Tebow's religious beliefs became fodder for tabloid material recently when reports surface that he was in a relationship with former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo that ended because Culpo grew frustrated over Tebow's unwillingness to have sex.

Later reports have contradicted the rumors that Tebow and Culpo, who is Nick Jonas' ex-girlfriend, were even involved romantically. But because of the rumors, the former NFL quarterback was back in the news for his off-the-field exploits.

And that had Simmons seething.

"I think it's the height of lunacy, and those journalists should be held accountable," Simmons said. "They're never going to pick on a guy who tortures dogs, or perhaps gone to jail for murder.

"But if he believes in Christ His Lord, then he's open season. It's like, what country are we living in?"

Tebow continues to work as an analyst for ESPN's SEC Nation as the NFL keeps its back turned on him following his release from the Eagles during the preseason.
