Denver Broncos Rumors: Coaches' Preference Of Brock Osweiler May Be Power Play With Peyton Manning [VIDEO]

Even if Peyton Manning is healthy, the Broncos may be considering riding out the Brock Osweiler train during the 2015 season.

They may want to try to win with Osweiler rather than Manning, but are they also saying they'd rather lose with Osweiler than win with the future Hall of Famer under center?

Peyton Manning May Seek Trade From Broncos If He Isn't Starting In 2016

After the Broncos' 15-12 loss to the Raiders on Sunday, questions about Peyton Manning's return resurfaced in the wake of Denver's offensive troubles with Osweiler.

But the Broncos still consider the fourth-year quarterback out of Arizona State as the man who can take them the farthest, according to Bleacher Report's Jason Cole.

Broncos Contribution To Peyton Manning's Breakdown

"The coaches still feel that Brock Osweiler is the best option at this time to help the Broncos in their chase for the playoffs and a possible championship," Cole wrote Monday. "While they did not score a touchdown on Sunday against the Raiders and failed to score any points at all in the second half of the game, a lot of that was primarily due to coaching errors, the inability to line up blockers against Khalil Mack and drops by wide receivers."

The thing about a healthy Manning -- a Manning at full strength -- is that he was able to overcome some of those coaching errors because he was in charge of the offense.

First-year coach Gary Kubiak and his staff obviously don't have a lengthy history with Manning. The staff was forced to change its offense to allow Manning to operate from the shotgun.

With Manning's body failing what his mind has wanted him to do this season, the staff may be trying to seize back control of the offense. Manning is beginning to practice this week to test his injured foot, The Denver Post reported. The Broncos will assess whom their starter is for Sunday's game in Pittsburgh later in the week.

Kubiak refused to name a starter until the staff watches Manning practice. But if the Broncos go with Osweiler the rest of the way and fail to advance far into the playoffs, their decision will be second-guessed for a long time.

But that may be what it takes for the staff to wrest back control of the offense from Manning.
