Wanderlei Silva found his UFC career in limbo resulting from a mix of run-ins he has had with the UFC and the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).
On one end, Silva has been in the middle of a drug-related issue with the NSAC which had led to a lifetime ban on him. Now that ban had complications as well.

It turns out that Silva was not licensed in Nevada when he did skip drug tests back in 2014. Now that came under fire though when Silva’s attorney, Ross Goodman, took it to a higher court.
The Nevada judge says that the commission did have jurisdiction but did however question the validity of the lifetime ban. As it turned out, the ban was rescinded and sent back to the commission for another hearing.

Hearings were conspicuously delayed and such has kept him out of fighting in the UFC per the Bleacher Report.
Now while that is still up for resolve, Silva got himself into another world of trouble when he made fight-fixing allegations against the UFC. That led to a separate lawsuit filed against Brazilian fighter, hence more trouble via MMA Junkie.
All seems to have been resolved however after Silva made a public apology on the claim via his Facebook page.
The post read:
“I failed to understand that the term ‘fight-fixing’ specifically refers to the illegal action or practice of dishonestly determining the outcome of a contest before it occurs,” read his statement. “I understand the UFC’s reputation would be harmed if my fans and others actually believed the UFC engaged in fight fixing, and I have no evidence to support such a claim. I apologize for any misunderstanding my comments may have caused.”
After that, Silva got his release from the UFC meaning he can now do whatever he wants.
Though Silva retired after the lifetime ban, he could find himself hooking up with Bellator next. Though he has officially retired, it won’t be surprising if Scott Coker comes up with a wild idea to get him back fighting against perhaps similar elder fighters like Ken Shamrock or Tito Ortiz.
Now before looking that far, there is that mess which has to be settled with the NSAC. There is no telling how long that would take but the fact remains that it may very well be the draggy part for anything that Silva has planned up his sleeves for the future.
