Jordy Nelson Wife: At Least Emily Nelson Didn't Ditch Packers WR After Injury ... Like She Did In 7th Grade [VIDEO]

Jordy Nelson went through plenty of setbacks in his NFL career. The same can be said for his personal life.

The Packers wide receiver missed the entire season after tearing the ACL in his right knee during a Week 2 preseason game against the Steelers.

Green Bay wasn't the offensive juggernaut it usually is when Nelson is healthy, as the Packers were very inconsistent all season. The Aaron Rodgers-led unit eventually made the playoffs, but lost to the Cardinals last Saturday in the divisional round.

Though all he could do was watch on helplessly during the Packers' up-and-down season, the former Pro Bowler is used to dealing with life's obstacles. Nelson revealed that his current wife, Emily, wasn't always so fond of him.

Nelson said Emily was his childhood sweetheart, but she left him in the summer when they were kids.

"It was actually seventh grade," Nelson told the 'Dan LeBatard Show' (via Sports Illustrated). "At the end of the school year, she had an incredible reason why, it was the end of the school year and summertime and apparently she didn't want to be around me. She didn't want to be tied down to one guy in seventh grade in the summer."

The receiver eventually won Emily back as a freshman in high school, and they survived many summers together, getting married in 2007. The following year, he was drafted by the Packers.

Nelson mended his broken heart that one summer and still managed to marry Emily in the end. After suffering a serious knee injury and spending an entire season on the mend, there's reason to believe he'll help the Packers get further in the playoffs next year when he returns from the sidelines.
