Foster has played just 25 games over the last three years and will be on the wrong side of 30 before the 2016 season starts. Entering the final year of his contract, Foster will account for $8.9 million of Houston's cap.
The Texans can save $6.6 million by releasing him. It's worth consideration, especially given the injury history.

Garrett Graham
There's dead weight and then there's Garrett Graham.
The TE caught just four passes for 30 yards and one TD last season -- not exactly what the Texans were hoping for when they re-signed him to a three-year, $11.25 million contract in 2014. His cap hit falls from $4.5 million to $1.5 million in the offseason, per Spotrac.
Houston is better off saving half of his $3 million base salary.
Brian Hoyer
Brian Hoyer shouldn't start another game in the NFL, let alone in Houston.
