Oakland Raiders, Las Vegas Rumors: Now It's Mark Davis' Turn To Spurn Los Angeles [VIDEO]

The NFL didn’t help Raiders owner Mark Davis out in his bid to move the Raiders back to Los Angeles, instead favoring Rams owner Stan Kroenke. L.A. is still an option for the Raiders, as tenants in Kroenke’s stadium in Inglewood, but Davis could be in a position to turn the tables and say no thanks.

Davis is reportedly in talks to move to Las Vegas, where Las Vegas Sands chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson is planning to build a billion-dollar domed stadium on the campus of UNLV. This was revealed in a controversial memo written by UNLV president Len Jessup that was obtained by ESPN.

Chargers Buy Land In L.A., Far From Inglewood

"Correspondingly, the Sands leadership team let us know that officials from the Oakland Raiders are scheduled to travel to Las Vegas and tour locations around the valley for a potential new home, and they have asked us to meet them at our 42-acre site on Friday morning to answer questions about that site," Jessup wrote. Davis was coy when asked about plans to head to Sin City.

“In typical Raider fashion, I can neither confirm nor deny,” Davis said.

Evidence Suggests Rams Plan Was Favored From Its Inception

Moving the Raiders could be a long shot, because the NFL has long resisted placing a franchise in the only American city with legalized sports gambling. However, a partner in the development, Craig Cavileer of Majestic Realty, believes Anderson’s involvement could give the plan a major push.

"Projects like this need a lot of very, very strong leadership, a lot of conviction, a lot of focus and great resources,'' Cavileer said. "Certainly, Sheldon and his team have proved time and time again that they produce great projects."

That project does not help the Raiders in 2016 though. The Raiders do not have a lease on a home stadium for the upcoming season, per ESPN, and they are expected to wind up remaining in Oakland for at least one more year. Joining the Rams in Los Angeles is another option should the Chargers decline, or they could shift to San Diego if the Chargers take up Kroenke’s offer to be a tenant in Inglewood.
