Eli Manning will never be confused for Cam Newton, and that goes way beyond their skin color. While Newton is often criticized for being too flashy and celebratory, Manning, especially early in his career, was panned for being too dull and/or doofy.
He did not help himself during the Super Bowl, when he essentially failed to react to the Broncos’ game-sealing touchdown that led to his older brother’s second title.

What is that Eli? Well, TMZ caught up with him in the airport and he finally explained himself. In typical Eli Manning fashion, it was a response almost entirely devoid of entertainment.
“Well I was just focused on whether he would go for two, and I knew the defense had to step up and make some stops,” Manning said with a sly grin that hinted he knew the internet was blowing up and laughing at him. He wouldn’t give the reporter anything when he was asked about whether or not big bro was going to retire this offseason.

Manning’s response mirrored how he reacts to in-game situations though, so while the world has a good chuckle, that kind of focus on what’s happening next is how he won two Super Bowl rings against Tom Brady, whom many consider to be the greatest quarterback ever. Didn’t look too doofy here, did he?
