Ronda Rousey Next Fight: 'Rowdy' Healing Ahead Of Schedule, Should Take One Tune-Up Bout [VIDEO]

Ronda Rousey expected to be out of commission for three to six months following a knockout at the hands – and feet – of Holly Holm at UFC 193. Rousey made the mistake of trying to fight standing up vs. Holm, and ate multiple punches, and one crushing kick to the face that damaged her teeth and jaw.

Rousey wasn’t too far off. Three months later, which is the early end of her timetable, Rousey is back in the gym throwing punches and grappling, per TMZ. She’s doing much better than expected when she said "It might be 3 to 6 months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact."

Holm is scheduled to make her first defense of the UFC women’s bantamweight title in March against Miesha Tate, Rousey’s most hated rival. In the meantime, Rousey would be wise to take on a tune-up fight against a ranked fighter first, preferably one like Liz Carmouche, who has a 52 percent success rate on strikes in the stand-up.

It would also give Rousey an opportunity to make sure she was not psychologically scarred from her first defeat. Tate told Fox Sports that Rousey beat herself mentally against Holm.

Ronda Rousey's Mom Wants Her To Dump Her Trainer

"I think Ronda went into that fight with Holly thinking, 'If I don't finish this girl in under two minutes, I'm already a failure,' and she went in there with such desperation to get a quick finish," Tate said. "She just went out there like a charging bull in a china shop and she allowed Holly to play the perfect game plan. Holly was the matador, Ronda was the bull. The bull fell victim."
