Rams coach Jeff Fisher may be putting on his best poker face. Or else, St. Louis football fans might be relieved that the team left town.
Fisher declared that journeyman Case Keenum will enter the 2016 offseason as the starting quarterback with Nick Foles getting the opportunity to challenge him for the job.

Fisher has a 27-36-1 record during his four years as coach of the team and could be in the hot seat in 2016, so his announcement doesn't make a lot of sense in terms of building an immediate contender.

"Fisher's quote is also in the running for the least hopeful message of the offseason," CBS Sports reported. "When every other team around the league is dreaming up scenarios that end in a Super Bowl, Fisher is out here talking about Case Keenum as his starting quarterback."
The Rams were last in the league in passing yards (2,805) and passer rating (74.1). They also suffered the fewest sacks among the 32 NFL teams with 18.
And Los Angeles is going to go with the status quo?
Speculation has been circulated that the Rams may be interested in both Peyton Manning and Robert Griffin III as free agents. Brock Osweiler and former Rams quarterback Sam Bradford also are free agents.
And the Rams have more than $50 in cap space for 2016 overall, according to USA Today Sports.
Los Angeles may not be in position to draft Carson Wentz or Jared Goff, whom CBS Sports says are the top two projected quarterbacks in the 2016 NFL Draft. Both could be gone by the time the Rams' No. 15 position officially is on the clock.
The proclamation could allow Fisher and the front office to orchestrate a move that gives the Rams an upgrade at quarterback.
But to do nothing would make no one happy. Except, perhaps, St. Louis.
