CM Punk WWE Return 2016 Rumors: 'Best In The World' Should Come Back To Wrestling If UFC Falls Through, Not Announce [VIDEO]

The world is still awaiting CM Punk's first UFC fight.

It was believed he'd finally make his debut against Mickey Gall this spring, but he suffered yet another setback. The former WWE Champion has delayed his debut several times, most recently due to back surgery.

Professional wrestler Tommy Dreamer had an idea for Punk if he doesn't end up being able to pursue his dream of stepping into the Octagon.

"CM Punk is one of those guys that will excel at anything he does," Dreamer said on MMA Noise. "He gets so into what he's doing. He wrote a comic book. He was a big comic book kid, a big wrestling kid and he's a big MMA guy. Me personally, I thought it was a great move for UFC because if he puts a tweet out there, it's trending. He is pop culture. He hasn't had a fight in two years and we're still talking about him. Even if he never has a fight, I think CM Punk should be an announcer because you hand that guy a microphone and he gets people's attention. So, I think he should do that."

Punk proved with his pipe bombs how deadly he can be on the microphone, but announcing would still be a waste of his abilities.

At age 37, Punk is pretty late to the game when it comes to entering the Octagon, and one has to wonder if he ever should have left wrestling in the first place.

The "Best in the World" had every reason to walk out based on how the WWE was treating him, but if he can't pursue a UFC career, he'd be better off returning to the squared circle rather than announcing for UFC.

Punk was one of the best stars to ever grace the ring and it's unfortunate the way his career ended. Even if he doesn't return to the WWE, another run in a different promotion could give Punk the sendoff he deserves.

Then again, if the WWE was able to mend fences with the likes of Bruno Sammartino and The Ultimate Warrior, maybe one day Punk will return home to the promotion.

Either way, if Punk's UFC career stalls out, he belongs in the squared circle, not talking about the events happening in the Octagon from behind a headset.
