UFC Rumors 2016: Ronda Rousey to Face Cris ‘Cyborg’ in First Fight Card in New York?

Ronda Rousey will reportedly headline the first Ultimate Fighting Championship fight card in New York City and it could be against Cris "Cyborg" Justino.

UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta announced that the first fight card in New York will take place at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 12 after NY governor Andrew Cuomo officially signed the bill to legalize mixed martial arts in the state.

Shortly after the announcement, Fertitta hinted that Rousey could be the main attraction at UFC 205, adding that the UFC debut in New York will be a massive fight card.

"It's certainly a possibility," Fertitta told MMA Fighting, when asked about Rousey headlining UFC 205. "Nothing has been determined yet. We'll kind of see what happens. I can tell you that whatever card we do bring, it will be massive. It'll be a big card with our biggest names."

For his part, Cuomo also made it no secret that he wants Rousey to headline UFC 205, the Washington Post reported. The New York governor said that he will immediately book a ticket if Rousey will be involved in the main event.

Will It Be Against Cyborg?

Meanwhile, Cris "Cyborg" Justino reacted to reports linking Rousey to the first ever fight card in New York. The Brazilian superstar called out Rousey, expressing interest in facing the former UFC women's bantamweight champion in a 140-pound showdown.

Cyborg is set to make her UFC debut against Leslie Smith in one of the featured bouts at UFC 198. If she gets past Smith, Cyborg will likely get a shot at Rousey but it remains to be seen whether or not the latter is willing to move up to 140 for the bout.

Rousey, who has not fought since losing to Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November, previously reiterated that she will only face Cyborg if her Brazilian rival will move down to 135 pounds.
