UFC: Georges St-Pierre Talks About Return to Octagon, Ronda Rousey To Get Title Shot in New York?

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre confirmed that his manager is talking to UFC about a potential return but did not give an assurance that a deal will be struck soon.

St-Pierre, who has not fought since his split decision win over Johny Hendricks in November 2013, told The MMA Hour that talks between his camp and UFC are getting serious but no deal is imminent at this point.

The Canadian mixed martial arts superstar also revealed that his comeback will also depend on how he will feel after undergoing intense workout in the coming weeks. GSP said that he will only decide to fight inside the Octagon again if he is healthy and if he is capable of giving the fans their money's worth.

"If I feel good, I'll give the thumbs up to my manager," St-Pierre said via MMA Fighting. "They've been talking with UFC, but now they're going to talk more seriously to see what's gonna happen."

St-Pierre also revealed that his current contract with Reebok will be a factor in the negotiation for a new deal with UFC. The 34-year-old said that he is not allowed to wear other equipment as stipulated in his contract with Reebok, which means UFC will have to put an enticing offer on the table to convince GSP to return.

Ronda Rousey to Get Title Shot in Next Fight

Meanwhile, UFC president Dana White announced that Ronda Rousey will get a title shot, when the former women's bantamweight champion returns to the Octagon after her long layoff.

Rousey has not fought since taking a second-round knockout loss to Holly Holm in November 2015. Holm failed to defend her title against Miesha Tate, which means Rousey could face Tate for the third time if the reigning champion wins against Amanda Nunes at UFC 200 in July.

White also confirmed that Rousey will likely be featured in the first UFC fight card in New York on Nov. 12.

"Rousey is definitely part of the discussion [to fight on Nov. 12 in New York] and she will fight whoever has that belt," White said via ESPN. "I think Miesha, she's fighting at UFC 200, she might fight again before that. She wants to fight. We'll see what happens."
