The apparent rift between Conor McGregor and Dana White appears to be coming to a halt.
"The Notorious" and the UFC president haven't seen eye-to-eye lately after White took the reigning UFC featherweight champion off the UFC 200 card, where he was supposed to fight Nate Diaz. White made the decision after McGregor refused to do promotion for the fight.
Though it seemed like there were hard feelings between the two sides, White insists they've kept in touch and plan to come to a resolution over the Irishman's next opponent over dinner next week.
"Conor and I have been talking every day," White said on 'The Dan Patrick Show.' "Our relationship's great and we're gonna put the little speed bump in the road that happened there behind us and move forward."
While it's unknown if McGregor will be placed back on the UFC 200 card, which is now headlined by a light heavyweight battle between champion Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones on July 9 in Las Vegas, it seems the two sides are at least working toward promoting his next fight.
Though White downplayed their rift, McGregor has been the subject of a lot of buzz recently due to the drama. First, the Irishman announced his retirement from the promotion, but then he retracted and revealed he wasn't retired.
After the reigning UFC featherweight champion was taken off of the card, rumors began to circulate that he would fight Floyd Mayweather in a boxing bout, something which technically can't happen while he's under contract with UFC. That hasn't stopped McGregor's name from popping up in speculation.
During his standoff with White, McGregor certainly didn't mind the publicity. McGregor and his girlfriend, Dee Devlin, were also rumored to have beefed up their security after the UFC fighter received a death threat, but his camp has since dismissed that story.
"Yes we have security, no not due to death threats," McGregor's representative Audie Attar told TMZ Sports. "Security is in everyone's best interest and for everyone's safety."
McGregor vs. Diaz may not happen at UFC 200, but White is working toward bringing "The Notorious" back into the fold.
