MLB All Star Game 2016: 5 Best Moments From Midsummer Classic [VIDEO]

The American League overcame the National League at Petco Park in San Diego on Tuesday in the 87th annual MLB All-Star Game.

It marked the fourth straight season the Junior Circuit won the Midsummer Classic, earning the AL home-field advantage in this year's World Series. Six of the last seven teams to hold home-field advantage in the Fall Classic have gone on to win it.

The American League may have won 4-2, but both sides had some memorable moments. Here are the five best moments from this year's All-Star Game.

1) Clubbing Cub

The Cubs had all four of their infield starters begin the All-Star Game via the fan vote, and it was third baseman Kris Bryant making an impact in his first at-bat of the game. Bryant took the first pitch he saw from White Sox starter Chris Sale and hit it over the wall for a home run to give the NL a 1-0 lead.

2) Royals Crowned

The defending World Series champions were well represented in the Midsummer Classic. Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer and catcher Salvador Perez went yard off of NL starter Johnny Cueto just two batters apart to give the AL a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning.

3) Farewell Big Papi

Retiring David Ortiz played in his 10th and final All-Star Game Tuesday night. After he was taken out of the game following a walk for a substitution, the AL's designated hitter was greeted by his teammates and hugged as he said farewell to the Midsummer Classic.

4) A Will & A Way

After Andrew Miller departed with the bases loaded in the top of the eighth inning, Astros pitcher Will Harris came in to face Cardinals infielder Aledmys Diaz with the bases loaded and two outs. With the AL clinging to a two-run lead, Harris fanned Diaz to end the biggest threat the Senior Circuit would put together.

5) MVP

Eric Hosmer had a night to remember in San Diego. After winning the World Series last year, Hosmer once again shined on a big stage. The Kansas City first baseman went 2-for-3 with a home run and joined Bo Jackson (1989) as the only Royals player to ever take home the hardware.
