Tom Brady Rumors: Suspended Patriots QB Turning To Wes Welker To Keep His Arm Strong [VIDEO]

In order to stay sharp during his suspension, Tom Brady is turning to an old friend.

Brady is sidelined until Week 5 on Oct. 23 when the Patriots play the Steelers, but that doesn't mean he won't be throwing a football this weekend.

The Patriots quarterback is serving a four-game Deflategate suspension, but his old teammate and good friend Wes Weller revealed he'll be having a catch with him on Saturday.

Brady is being honored by Michigan, his alma mater, before their game on Saturday. Prior to the ceremony, he has plans to throw with Welker.

"It was funny. I hit him up (because) I'm actually heading up to the game (Saturday), and I hit him up to do dinner Saturday night," Welker said on 560 WQAM In Miami, according to ESPN "(Brady) was like 'I'm going to be flying in from Ann Arbor later, but hey, how about that morning we go throw?' And I'm just sitting there, like, 'I was just thinking about dinner, but yeah, sure.' I'll get over there early and we can throw a little bit. That's the only thing we really have planned."

Welker played with Brady and the Patriots from 2007-11. His last NFL stint was with the Rams last season, but it's likely his career is over.

On Sunday, the Patriots will turn to Jimmy Garoppolo during their game against the AFC East rival Dolphins.

Garappolo took the reins to the offense and helped lead the Patriots to a 23-21 victory over the Cardinals on the road last week. The signal caller will be under center Sunday as well as when the Patriots host the Texans and Bills the following two weeks.

Garappolo went 24-for-33 for 264 yards and a touchdown against Arizona.

As for Brady, he was seen throwing with his wife earlier this month. Now, he's heaving passes to Welker.

"It was just funny," said Welker. "I'm sitting there trying to have dinner and 'Hey, get your ass up here and let's go throw!' I'm like 'Geez, man, he's going to be running like two-minute drills in his backyard or something.'"
