Cristiano Ronaldo: Real Madrid Forward Made 'Copa del Rey' Comeback After Two Years

World's highest paid soccer player, Cristiano Ronaldo played in Copa del Rey after two years. The Portuguese player has not played in the tournament since Real Madrid's defeat to Atletico in January 2015.

As written in ESPN, Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been included in the squad for Copa del Rey quarterfinal first leg at home to Celta Vigo. Coach Zinedine Zidane gave him rest for previous two rounds of the competition.

Ronaldo was included in the 19-man squad for the game. Real Madrid club's Twitter account highlighted his excellent record of 13 goals in only five matches against the Galicians at the Santiago Bernabeu.

As written in the Mirror, in his last appearance, Ronaldo was left out of last season's encounter with Cadiz, which ultimately saw Los Blancos disqualified for fielding ineligible Denis Cheryshev.

Cristiano Ronaldo made his first appearance after two years in the match against Celta Vigo this Wednesday. However, he failed to make an impact and Madrid lost by 2-1. Real Madrid lost against Sevilla last Sunday and broke their record 40-game unbeaten run.

Visitors Celta Vigo took the lead on 65 minutes through the goal by Iago Aspas. Real scored a goal just five minutes later with a stunning strike from distance by Marcelo which set the score level. But only after just 58 seconds defender Jonny successfully entered the home team's defense and took the lead for his team.

The second leg will be played on January 25 at the Balaidos. Zinedine Zidane's team was aiming to get back from the previous loss and having Ronaldo in the team, fans were expecting them to win this one. Unfortunately, Wednesday was not the day of Ronaldo and his team.

Zidane believed that it was not a good moment for them. The team faced two defeats in a row but they are confident that they will come back and change the result.
