Nate Diaz To Pursue Boxing License After UFC Put Him 'On The Shelf'

Nate Diaz is currently a disgruntled employee in the UFC. It's been six months since he last lost against Conor McGregor in UFC 202, but despite being cleared to fight in September, he hasn't had any fights nor he has any upcoming.

The 31-year old said that he know what this is all about, he further comments on the system that UFC is putting him on the shelf. So Diaz is now looking to do what makes everyone unhappy with the workplace, he is looking for opportunities elsewhere. He is trying to get a Nevada boxing license.

Diaz stated his intention to apply for the license earlier this month, according to Nevada State Athletic Commission Director Bob Bennett, the boxer is in line for the license once he gets his paperwork done as soon as possible.

Bennett said that upon his submission of the required license information, the boxer is expected to get approval of the association for his license as of date. He further says that he welcomes Diaz whole-heartedly, to fight in Las Vegas, whether its with the UFC or a boxing promoter.

UFC President Dana White on the other hand has disputed over the fact that Diaz claims of being shelved by the UFC. Noting in a text that the responsibility falls on the fighter to seek out bouts, and not the promoter.

White further texted saying he hasn't heard from Diaz since last August, he says usually when fighters want a fight or if they are looking for some activity, they call.

Diaz is now the second fighter from the UFC who is seeking to get a boxing license. The other being, ironically, Conor McGregor who got his California boxing license in December. It remains to be seen whether Diaz will comeback at UFC for a fight or go on and get the Nevada Boxing license.
