While everyone is interacting about the Blackberry Mercury, which is supposedly unveiled at MWC, information about a different Blackberry-branded smartphone has surfaced online.
The unannounced smartphone goes by the code name BBC100-1 and, unlike the Blackberry Mercury which will be released by the Chinese company TLC; it will be launched on the market by PT BB Merah Putih.
Blackberry announced a device software licensing agreement with PT BB Merah Putih under a joint venture. The joint venture can source, distribute and promote Blackberry branded devices powered by android operating system.
However, the joint venture only refers to Indonesia; it means that the new smartphone will be released in Indonesia, though there can be a possibility of a global rollout later on.
The BBC100-1 is a mid-range Android smartphone with adequate specifications. As stated in Phone Arena, the device would be powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor and features a 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory.
Additionally, the Blackberry-branded smartphone offers a 5.5-inch display that supports 720p HD resolution. The phone packs a 13 MP camera with LED flash and 8 MP secondary camera for selfies and video calls.
As mentioned in GSM Arena, The BBC100-1 is powered by a 3000 mAh battery and will feature dual-SIM support as well. There is no information regarding the price and the availability of the device yet.
This device is expected to see next month at the Mobile World Congress which will be held in the Barcelona from 27th February to 2nd march 2017.
The device could be released in Indonesia and other Asian markets like India and the Philippines. A global model could be announced by TCL, the company that has the right to distribute and promote Blackberry smartphones worldwide.
Blackberry owners can be sure of the firm's strong security suite, which it carries to develop and bake into its Android-powered handsets. Its software division has continued to thrive, and many consumers still swear by it.
