'Splinter Cell' Update: Movie Vows To Be Different From Other Video Game Adaptations

The Assassin's Creed movie didn't really have a spark in the box office as it failed to meet the expectations of 20th Century Fox and its game developer, UbiSoft. Because of this, the 'Splinter Cell' folks want to make their movie adaptation different.

Meanwhile, Stephen Gaghan is chosen as the director of The Division. One can now see the trend in videogames-turned-movies. According to Den of Geek, there will also be a Ghost Recon movie that will feature Tom Hardy.

Information is still Minimal

As of now, there is still no news as to the specific details and information about 'Splinter Cell'. But one thing is for sure, and that it will see to it that it will never repeat the mistakes of the past.

The people responsible for the game's movie adaptation are currently in talks with Basil Iwanyk. And according to him, there is indeed real progress happening.

According to Collider, Iwanyk says that they already had a script. He also points out that the script is quite long. However, the length of the script is also synonymous with the quality that it will have.

Iwanyk also says that he will pass on the responsibility to Hardy over the next couple of months. It is expected that everything will be done before this year ends.

'Splinter Cell' made for the Grownups

With the "getting done" that he let off, he might be implying to getting the movie's film shooting done this year. If ever this is the case, then this would only mean one thing. And that is, 'Splinter Cell' will be up for a 2018 release.

He also gives hints that he would prefer the movie to have a true PG-13 rating. Surely, this will denote one thing, and that the movie adaptation of 'Splinter Cell' would be a bloody and violently interesting one.
