What the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SUV is All About

Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi intends to sustain its successful Outlander release. Back in January this year, enthusiasts have caught a glimpse of the company's newest SUV.

Considering its rather odd but exceptional design, observers think that the latest offering is a unique blend of vehicle brands. What makes the current approach somewhat bizarre is the fact that Mitsubishi is betting heavy odds on a name that has already been launched in the past.

The Eclipse sports car has managed to haul in more than 1.4 million units in sales from 1989 to 2012. Taking cue on this rather remarkable run, the organization is again betting that a repackaged brand can still bring in a respectable profit.

By unveiling the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SUV, the Japanese company is tuning in to an idea which many will most likely explore for themselves. Considering that the vehicle platform is an integration of components linked to a hatchback, a saloon and a sports utility component, this may be one automobile that will revolutionize the way aficionados look at cars.

It is likely that Mitsubishi will be revealing its new unit during this year's Geneva Motor Show in March. Although the excitement is gradually building up, information about the sport vehicle remains limited. What is actually being anticipated is that the next concept automobile has acquired some elements from the Outlander product.

Based on leaked images, both the head and the tail lights of the SUV are packed with LED. The wheels are a bit more prominent which gives the unit a more dominant outlook.

Perhaps the feature that cannot escape the eye is the unit's similarity to a coupe vehicle structure. With its sloping roofline and somewhat sculpted nose, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross presents a daring visual impact.

Inside the car, the infotainment system is situated appropriately leading to allow some space flexibility. The installation of a panoramic roof is on the dot considering that enough legroom is instituted.

In terms of performance, the Eclipse is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo engine complete with a CVT box and a four-wheel drive.

According to Project Manager Hiroyuki Kagawa, the four-cylinder machine can throttle to 1,500rpm which shouldn't be done often since it will affect the mid-range muscle. In addition, the SUV has 120 brake horsepower (bhp) to go with 200Nm of torque.
