Game Over For 'Hellboy 3', Director Guillermo del Toro Tweets

Fans of the "Hellboy" film and comic series that are hoping for "Hellboy 3" would be better off not hoping at all. That's because there won't be any "Hellboy 3", according to "Hellboy" director Guillermo del Toro.

In a sudden turn of events, "Hellboy" director Guillermo del Toro just recently announced on his Twitter account that "Hellboy 3" will not be taking place, according to a report from Slash Film. Guillermo del Toro tweeted that he has already spoken to all the people concerned on making "Hellboy 3". The result of the meeting with all the people concerned was not good news for fans of "Hellboy" as Guillermo del Toro said that "Hellboy 3" is one hundred percent over and that's already final.

The news comes as a disappointing end for "Hellboy" fans who are hoping for a "Hellboy 3". Both "Hellboy" and "Hellboy II: The Golden Army" didn't do too well on the big screen despite having an Oscar-nominated director in Guillermo del Toro.

With Guillermo del Toro at the helm of "Hellboy", the 52-year old Mexican director brought a different dynamic to "Hellboy" by making the movie more fun and imaginative compared to other Hollywood blockbuster films. While "Hellboy" only produced decent results at the box office, it was at the home video sales that made "Hellboy" a huge success. As a result of "Hellboy"'s success at home video sales, a sequel, "Hellboy II: The Golden Army", was made at a different studio and possibly a third one in "Hellboy 3" in the near future.

Unfortunately for "Hellboy II: The Golden Army", the sequel was released during the same summer as "The Dark Knight" was released. As a result, "Hellboy II: The Golden Army" was forgotten under the radar and ultimately hopes of "Hellboy 3" being made came crashing down as well.

Fans were given a glimmer of hope when a few weeks ago Guillermo del Toro tweeted that he's willing to talk to Ron Perlman, who plays "Hellboy", and "Hellboy" creator Mike Mignola if he gets 100,000 votes for "Hellboy 3", via a report from Movie Web. A total of 132,938 fans did vote for "Hellboy 3". Unfortunately, that's the closest thing fans will get at "Hellboy 3" as the planned sequel looks officially dead.
