Cleveland Cavaliers News: Tyronn Lue, Cavs Meet With Free Agent Larry Sanders After 2-Year Hiatus

Kevin Love's injury will surely leave a big hole onCleveland Cavaliers frontcourt which results to playing Tristan Thompson a little bit longer just to take care of the boards. With that development, Cleveland surely doesn't want any holes uncovered.

Reports from WKBN said that the defending champs are looking for a replacement that can play Love's position and they are looking at the former Milwaukee Buck Larry Sanders. Sanders has not played since the 2014-2015 season. With the Cleveland Cavaliers'  stretch forward gone for a month and a half, the 28-year old Sanders could provide the ceiling that Love will leave to the line-up. Coach Tyronn Lue believes that adding the former VCU Ram will provide the rebounding and a post threat should Sanders agree to join the team.

Cleveland.com reported that Lue and the management reached out to Sanders to see if they are still looking at the player who placed third in the Most Improved Player race in 2013. The second-year coach of Cleveland Cavaliers liked what he saw from the 6-foot-11 center.  "I don't think his talents went anywhere. Being able to block shots, run the floor, being athletic. I don't think that's going to change," said Lue. "It's just a mindset of, 'Does he really want to play the game and does he still love it?' If his mindset is right, he can definitely still play."

Since the absence of Love, Thompson and Channing Frye played extended minutes in their games against the Timberwolves and the Pacers. The former averaged 13 points and 11.5 boards in 36 minutes while the latter played 31.5 minutes in those games, a big jump from the 12.7 minutes average three games prior.

Sanders holds career averages of 6.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in his 5 seasons with the Bucks after being selected 15th overall in 2010 by Milwaukee. He was sanctioned a couple of times due to alleged marijuana use before "walking away from the game" due to personal reasons in 2015.
