WWE Rumors: Update on Possible Date of This Year's WWE Draft

The latest WWE rumors have revealed that possible date of this year's WWE Draft. The company re-launched the brand extension last year and they consider it a success. Even the WWE chairman hinted at one of the possible draft picks this year.

According to Cageside Seats, WWE rumors backstage imply that this year's draft is going to take place sometime in June. It is the perfect time to hold the event since it is well after WrestleMania and just a couple of months away from SummerSlam.

There is no official announcement for the draft but WWE rumors suggest that the draft picks for Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live will not be as many as last year. Quite possibly, the company is going to just draft stars from NXT.

Some of the remaining talents on the developmental system include Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Roode, Kassius Ohno, Asuka, Ember Moon, The Revival and #DIY. In last year's draft, Raw used one of its top picks to select former NXT champion Finn Balor, who went on to become the first-ever WWE Universal champion.

In a recent conference call, WWE chairman Vince McMahon spoke about the success of the brand extension. He even hinted at a possible brand switch for his favorite superstar, Roman Reigns, who could be moved from Raw to SmackDown, per Steve Carrier of Ringside News.

The comments made by the WWE chairman fueled several WWE rumors implying that Reigns will get drafted to SmackDown. On the other hand, it is possible that the WWE is going to move A.J. Styles from SmackDown to Raw.

McMahon also noted that the WWE is having difficulty creating new stars but the current brand extension is a great platform for young stars to grab the brass ring. WWE rumors suggest that this already started when Bray Wyatt won the WWE championship and John Cena put him over twice.

Finally, these are just WWE rumors at the moment and should be taken with a grain of salt. The WWE tends to change their plans most of the time due to many different reasons.
