Desperate To Get Out, Tony Romo Willing To Restructure Contract To Make Trade Happen

The Dallas Cowboys future looks bright ahead of the 2017 NFL Season. Just last season, the Dallas Cowboys finished the regular season with a record of 13-3, tied for the best record in Franchise history. They were just a couple of plays and defensive stops away from advancing to the NFC Championship, losing to the Green Bay Packers 34-31. All of that with a rookie quarterback in Dak Presscott leading them. The only problem for the Dallas Cowboys is what to do with resident star quarterback Tony Romo.

It's no secret that the oft-injured Tony Romo wanted out of the Dallas Cowboys nest. So desperate to get out that Tony Romo is even willing to restructure his contract just to be able to facilitate a trade, according to a report from the Larry Brown Sports.

Tony Romo, 36, has stated before that he's not willing to take part in a rebuilding team and that he wanted to be traded instead to a contending team. The Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans and the Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly the four teams that are on Tony Romo's wish list, via a report from Larry Brown Sports.

Despite Tony Romo's salary for next season is a modest $14 million, his salary cap for the next three seasons would be around $25 million, which makes it difficult for the Dallas Cowboys to find any takers. That's why Tony Romo is willing to restructure his salary in order for contending teams that might want to acquire him to have some kind of salary cap relief.

One easy way to work out this complicated mess is for the Dallas Cowboys to just release Tony Romo. But that move won't be ideal for the Dallas Cowboys as they won't be getting anything in return. The Dallas Cowboys are still hoping to get a third-round pick in exchange for Tony Romo.
