"UFC 209" News And Updates: Khabib's Father Wants Son To Retire After Two Years, "The Eagle" And "El Cucuy" Exchange Insults

'UFC 209' will feature the co-main event fight of #1 ranked Khabib "Eagle" Nurmagomedov and #2 ranked Tony "El Cucuy" Ferguson for the Interim Lightweight Championship. While the two fighters are both in their athletic prime, Khabib might not be doing it for long according to his father.

Khabib's father, Abdulmanap Nurmaomedov is telling everyone that his son will be retiring in two years if he is to be followed. According to the father, Khabib Nurmagomedov should retire by 30 which would wrap up a 6-year career in MMA that started when 'The Eagle' was 24 years old. The announcement came just mere days before 'UFC 209' and the biggest fight of the Russian's MMA career.

For the father, the decision was about his concerns for the health of his son according to MMA Mania. He wants his son to be a healthy and thinking person and thinks that a 6-year career in MMA is enough for a dangerous sport. 'UFC 209' will likely be one of Khabib's last few fights if his father is to be followed.

Abdulmanap has been a central figure in Khabib's career but it is unclear if the MMA fighter share the same sentiment with his father. 'The Eagle' is still undefeated in his MMA career but has yet to capture the UFC Lightweight title. Defeating Tony Feguson on 'UFC 209' will finally bring him the title.

Khabib's 'UFC 209' fight with Fegurson marks one of the rare times fighters with long winning streaks fight one another. Khabib is undefeated in his career and has an 8 fight winning streak in the UFC. On the other hand, Ferguson has a 9 fight winning streak in the UFC.

The two 'UFC 209' fighters apparently don't like each other as both have exchanged exchanged insults in pre-fight conference call. The war of words between the two took up most of the event which only shows the intensity and magnitude of the fight according to Fox Sports.

'UFC 209' will take place on Mar 4, 2017. Expect a heated match between the two.
