In one of the most the highly-anticipated movies of the year, "Alita: Battle Angel", has just added another big star. Michelle Rodriguez is set to join the cast of "Alita: Battle Angel", according to a report from Movie Web.

The announcement of Michelle Rodriguez joining "Alita: Battle Angel" comes just a few short weeks after news came out that Jennifer Connelly is also cast to star in "Alita: Battle Angel". Jennifer Connelly joined the cast of "Alita: Battle Angel" last Feb. 7 of this year, via a report from The Hollywood Reporter. Aside from Jennifer Connelly, Michelle Rodriguez is also set to join Rosa Salazar, Christopher Waltz, Eiza Gonzalez, Jackie Earle Haley, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, and Lana Condor in the 3D sci-fi action film.

"Alita: Battle Angel" has been in development for several years now. Robert Rodriguez is set to direct "Alita: Battle Angel", after taking over from James Cameron, who was the original choice to direct "Alita: Battle Angel".

"Alita: Battle Angel" is a live action film based on the manga, Battle Angel Alita, written by Yukito Kishiro in the 1990's. Michelle Rodriguez, 38, is set to play as Gelda, a cyborg warrior.

"Alita: Battle Angel" is set in the 26th century. It tells the story of a cyborg girl rescued by a scientist who found the cyborg girl in a junkyard. The scientist rebuilds her and together they embark on a journey to discover her mysterious past. As to what extent Michelle Rodriguez's character, Gelda, plays in the film, little is known so far.

Even though filming has already finished for "Alita: Battle Angel", the film is still expected to hit theaters on July 20, 2018. So fans of Michelle Rodriguez will definitely see plenty of her this year before "Alita: Battle Angel" hits theaters next year.
