Backstage News on Broken Matt and Jeff Hardy Returning to WWE After Signing Deal With Ring Of Honor

The WWE Universe is waiting for the return of Matt and Jeff Hardy but they decided to sign with Ring of Honor instead. However, there is still a chance that The Hardy Boyz return to the WWE after WrestleMania 33 or even later this year, per the latest backstage news.

Broken Matt and Jeff Hardy surprised the fans in attendance at ROH's Manhattan Mayhem VI last Saturday at the Hammerstein Ballroom when they appeared to confront The Young Bucks. They challenged the ROH Tag Team champions into an impromptu title match and won.

The Broken Hardys are now the reigning ROH Tag Team champions and Broken Matt revealed that signed with ROH rather than with the WWE. He also claimed that he and his brother are the highest-paid wrestlers in ROH.

"Many, many people speculated that we were going to sign a contract with the MeekMahan. Now myself and the nefarious Nero, we exist on the plane known as the Honorable Ring. And the Bucks of Youth used to have the biggest contract in ROH history until the Hardys signed a contract. And this is only the beginning," Broken Matt said, via Cageside Seats.

Dave Meltzer mentioned on The Wrestling Observer Radio that Broken Matt and Jeff Hardy are indeed the highest-paid wrestlers in ROH. Meltzer also revealed that the Hardys have creative control over their characters which might have been a big factor in choosing between ROH and WWE.

However, Bryan Alvarez noted on Observer Radio that Broken Matt and Jeff Hardy signed a short-term deal with ROH and they could make their return to the WWE after WrestleMania 33. The realistic date of their return is likely later this year.

According to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, Broken Matt and Jeff Hardy were in talks with the WWE on Friday but they ultimately decided to sign with ROH. As of this moment, The Broken Hardys are tag team champions in six promotions, seven if you count the TNA tag titles they never lost.
