Tim Tebow News: Ex-NFL Ref Mocks 'Uncatchable' Passes Should Only Be Factor In 'Tim Tebow-Type' Passes [VIDEO]

Former NFL official Jim Daopoulos has found a way to interject out-of-work quarterback Tim Tebow into the simmering controversy stemming from Monday night's Carolina Panthers vs. New England Patriots game.

When asked by USA TODAY Sports if officials were correct in picking up the flag that was initially thrown for pass interference on Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's throw into the end zone on the game's last play in a 24-20 defeat to the Panthers, Daopoulos responded "we as officials have always been taught, for a ball to be uncatchable, it has to be clearly out of the field of play or it has to be kind of a Tim Tebow-type pass that lands 15 yards in front of you."

If reports of Tebow's recent whereabouts and actions are indication, the former Heisman Trophy winning Florida star probably won't be dissuaded by Daopoulos' words. The 26-year old vet was recently spotted in Los Angeles putting himself through "grueling QB drills" at a private field where he mostly concentrated on throwing mechanics.

According to sources, the man cut by Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots in training camp earlier this year spent about four hours on the field during one of his most recent workouts, most of it working on throwing drills.

To date, Tebow has resisted all suggestions that he either consider changing positions or get more seasoning by competing on a less than NFL-level stage in hopes of getting his playing career back on track.
